Music connects directly to the soul

Music has always been part of my life. Growing up to the sounds of my fathers clarinet, piano and concerts, I can say that part of me expresses itself through song. After years of making music the focal point of my life, I realised it was meant to remain a passion and a means of expression for me. Mantras and chanting are a perfect way to combine my musical world with spirituality and give free expression to my soul through the vocal channel whilst connecting not only to my history, but also to the history of the mantras that carry thousands of years of positive vibrations.

“After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music” Aldous Huxley

Chanting is a means of balancing the vibrational level in our body to encourage good health. Every emotion has an energy that resonates at a certain level. Our cells carry these waves in a conscious or unconscious manner and just as they can affect us, we can alter their vibratory level by chanting wonderful positive mantras. I accompany myself with my shruti box or guest fellow musicians to join with your vocal expressions in magical healing song.

Mrityunjaya Mantra

Om tryambakam yajamahe sugandhim pustivardhanam

Urdvarukamiva bandhanan - mrityormuksiya mamrtat

‘We worship the three-eyed One, who is fragrant and who nourishes all.
Like the fruit falls off from the bondage of the stem, may we be liberated from death, from mortality’

Considered to be the most powerful Shiva Mantra, it bestows longevity, wards off calamities, removes fear and heals holistically.

Here are the songs I grew up with, that touched me and became part of me. Recorded with my late father just before his passing, this is a personal project that encompasses my connection to Jazz.
