Living thanks to yoga

…and not just surviving !

Yoga teacher and practitioner, professional jazz singer, massage therapist and interpreter if needed….. I can honestly say that yoga has saved my life. After 25 years of practicing regularly I am in less pain now then when I was 18 years old and would have to stop to sit down because my back was causing intense pain. My double scoliosis was the reason. Many things have helped me on my path of exploration, self-discovery and alignement. Rolfing has done wonders for my body, therapies for my mind, eating consciously, taking care of limiting the chemicals I put into my body….. but yoga has brought the most global and durable effect on my well-being, physically but most importantly mentally and spiritually. The mind is a tremendously powerful tool, used to our advantage if mastered. The yoga teachings allow us to understand the functioning of this tool all the while freeing us from it - to ultimately connect to ‘Atman’ - our Higher Self and Source.

I started practicing yoga in 1995 whilst living in Tokyo, with teacher RajayMahtani My intention was to alleviate pains associated with the double scoliosis I had. Very quickly I discovered that the benefits surpassed my expectations of just physical comfort. A stronger body gave me a stronger mind. I continued an Ashtanga practice in London for a few years and then deepened my postural knowledge of alignment and asanas at the Iyengar Centre in Paris sfbiria.com where I was lucky to have access to the ʻspecial caseʼ group (3 teachers per student) during 2 years. I was fortunate to attend classes and workshops led by Faeq Biria, Corinne Biria, André Rivoire and Maryam Askari to name a few.

I am extremely enthusiastic about sharing the multi-faceted benefits of practicing asanas, pranayama and meditation and integrating yoga into our daily lives. Accredited with a 200h Yogaworks diploma Celine Antoine I enjoy teaching a Vinyasa flow class, combining the flow of Ashtanga with the precision of Iyengar alignements, as well as yin classes, adapting the practice to the level, energy and need of the day. I have been teaching yoga full time since 2013.

Following a Pranayama course with Master  Sudhir Tiwari I incorporate this essential aspect of the 8 limbs of yoga (BKSIyengaronyoga)  into my classes and encompass the aspects of yoga philosophy with the simple aim of moving towards a better union of body, mind and spirit, thus allowing us to lead a more coherent life guided by clarity and heightened awareness. In 2007 I obtained a degree in ʻTherapeutic and Swedish Massageʼ from the ʻSchool of Integrative Therapiesʼ in New Jersey. This is a wonderful tool in understanding the mechanical aspects of our physical bodies during our practice.

Immersed in the world of music since birth, I grew up to the sound of my musician father’s concerts and rehearsals. My own musical path brought me to study music and vocals during many years ( workshops, IACP school of Paris, classical private training and a stint at Berklee College of Music). I finally produced my CD featuring my father just before his passing, I continue to find solace in the vibrations of music, vocal expression and breath work. It is with joy that I continue on this path by melting accrued vocal experience with pranayama and mantra chanting to build a bridge between these two worlds.
